This handy tool easily creates various types of 3D shadows from objects such as letters, numbers, shapes and so on. All settings are present in a single window - transparency level, perspective, shadow color and position, X/Y/Z angles, and some others. Even the seasoned designers are surprised by the simplicity of the plug-in and excellent results it generates. The text, processed with this tool immediately grabs the attention of the viewers.

Plugin 3D Shadow is designed to create a three-dimensional shadow from any object — text, figures, etc. Also, very important, the plugin can create a shadow from any selected area. The status of the plugin is free, you can download it via the link at the bottom of this article.

Installation and launch of 3D Shadow

Windows XP Start the installation by double-clicking the installation file dshadowsetup.exe, but do not forget to write the installation path in the installer window — C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS5Plug-ins3D Shadow, otherwise the plugin will not work.

You can install the plugin through the main menu tab — Filter —> Lokas Software —> 3D Shadow.

Windows 7 I have installed Windows 7 64bit, the 64-bit Photoshop plugin did not want to work, so I installed it in the 32-bit Photoshop folder C:Program Files (x86)AdobeAdobe Photoshop CS5Plug-ins, this path I entered in Installer window shown in the figure above. Or you can use another option, without installation, for this you can simply take the 3D Shadow file folder from the archive, download it from the link below, and install it at C:Program Files (x86)AdobeAdobe Photoshop CS5Plug-ins.

The plugin is launched as in the first case, through the menu «Filter». In the picture below, I have shown the startup in 32-bit Adobe Photoshop CS5, installed on Windows 7 64bit:

The 3D Shadow interface supports English by default, it switches to Russian by pressing the Menu button, selecting the Language item and selecting the corresponding language:

With the help of sliders, it is possible to regulate blurring of shadows, opacity, angle of inclination along three axes, as well as displacement relative to the initial position.

The shade color can be set using the corresponding button «Color», by default it is black.

Also, in the plugin there are preset shadow settings, you can open them by clicking on the «Schemes» button (unsuccessful, in my opinion, translation, in the original this button is called Presets). And in this same section you can save your original settings.

What I especially liked about this plugin is that it allows you to create a shadow not only on a figure or text, but also on any, even arbitrarily selected, area. Example of drawing below:
